The Code explains the operational standards and procedures that Bosch Car Service garages will employ to ensure customers receive a proficient level of care and attention.

It describes how the Bosch Car Service garage will handle important legal and commercial measures in order to give further support to its customers.

The Bosch Car Service garage and Bosch have a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and therefore would like to work with the customer to resolve any complaint fairly and quickly. Should, despite these efforts, the complaint remain unresolved, then the customer has the option of pursuing independent adjudication. The Code describes the complaint handling procedure.

Finally, the Code describes the responsibilities of Bosch to ensure that the Bosch Car Service garages follow the provisions of the Code and also details how customers can assist to develop the Code so that it remains of benefit to the consumer.

Good Garage Scheme members can carry out all service and repair during a vehicle's warranty period without invalidating warranty conditions.

Subscribers to the code are committed to:

  • Deal with customers fairly, courteously and in keeping with good business practice.
  • Notify customers before work is undertaken if the business does not accept particular forms of payment.
  • Deal with customer complaints within 2 weeks.
  • Make available for customer inspection parts replaced during service or repair .
  • Comply with the Industry Standard Service checklist on all services.
  • Provide a completed service checklist.
  • Offer the customer a feed-back leaflet.
  • Provide a Good Garage Scheme service record.
  • Display in a prominent position the Good Garage Scheme code of conduct.

Customer feedbacks play a pivotal role in the operation of the Good Garage Scheme, highlighting areas of best practice and areas for improvement identified by motorists using member garages for work. A five-star rating system is produced for each member garage based on the Good Garage Scheme feedback forms, to help potential customers find the best workshop in their area.

Motor Codes Limited is the body responsible for the self regulation of the motor industry through consumer codes of practice.  Supported by government, consumer organisations and the motor industry it aims to raise the standards and increase consumer protection for motorists.

The Motor Industry Code of Practice for Service and Repair commits garages to an open, transparent and fair method of business, aiming to maintain consistently high standards across the industry. By subscribing to the Code, a garage is demonstrating its commitment to operate as a responsible business and deliver high levels of customer satisfaction.
